In a collaborative process between project partners Gehl, Copenhagen Solutions Lab, Google Air View, the Bernard van Leer Foundation and Utrecht University, the team investigated how urban planning and local urban design solutions can help to reduce exposure to air pollution, specifically Ultrafine Particles (UFP), and invite people to spend more time where air quality is better, with a specific focus on the most vulnerable; small children and their caregivers.
As a result, tangible healthy urban living (HUL) design principles have been proposed and are now being implemented and evaluated for their positive impact. This unique transdisciplinary project demonstrates the value of data-driven actionable Healthy Urban Living (HUL) innovations.
